In 2012 the global mining and metals corporation Rio Tinto locked out 750 of its employees in Alma, Quebec – members of the United Steelworkers and Workers Uniting, the global union created by the United Steelworkers and Unite.
This video was presented this week to the USW’s Canadian Policy Conference and it tells the story of how global solidarity worked to win a stunning victory when Rio Tinto settled with the USW, without the union making concessions.
