The last time I blogged on the new Global Union IndustriALL, the new logo was not ready for use. Well, its now available as is a basic website on the new Global Union. Trade unions from around the world will establish a new global union in June this year. The International Metal Workers, Internantionsl Chemical and Energy Workers and the International Textile workers will meet in in Copenhagen to found the new global union to be called IndustriALL. The founding congress will take place in Copenhagen from June 18th to 20th, 2012.
IndustriALL will represent workers in a wide range of sectors from extraction of oil and gas, mining, generation and distribution of electric power, to manufacturing of metals and metal products, shipbuilding, automotive, aerospace, mechanical engineering, electronics, chemicals, rubber, pulp and paper, building materials, textiles, garments, leather and footwear and environmental services.
A new website has been established and will develop into the run up to the founding Congress and will provide useful information and relevant documents for participants on the founding Congress, dissolution congresses and various side meetings, and will later include live reports from the event including news articles, videos and photos.
Having greater strength and building power across the supply chain at the global level is the motivating force for the creation of IndustriALL, hence the Congress theme Building Power.
